Early Tuesday Morning

Today was a early morning for more than one reason.  The little man wasn't feeling good and couldn't go to school so no gym for this momma today.   Last night was a late night and the early morning awakening let me know that I still needed to sleep.  Got the oldest off to school and then did a little snuggling and a whole bunch of laundry and cleaning up around this place.  He got in a bunch of cartoon time.  Despite no recent posts from me, I have not given up on this weight loss goal.  This Thursday marks one month pounding it out at the gym and I feel pretty good about what is happening with my body.  While there are no major changes in my appearance, I do feel better and I know that I am getting closer to seeing some changes.  I have added a couple new friends on Fitbit and have been challenged to meet some goals and I am doing everything I can to WIN those challenges.

Monday at the gym I tried a new workout.  I have heard that incline on a treadmill is more effective than lunges.  So this is what I found on Pinterest and I figured why not give it a try.

It was a good workout but next time I think I will increase the slow speed just a little.  I also might need to invest in a rope to hold me on the treadmill at the incline of 15 :).

I spend a lot of time trying to find things to do to keep my workouts different so I don't get bored, and I often wonder where other people come up with their workouts?  Any suggestions of good workouts?

Thursday Blues

Thursday.  I dreaded this day more than any other this week, and I am not sure Friday will be any better.  Today, I almost called my gym partner and said forget it I am staying in bed and nothing you can say or do will make me change my mind.  The plan at that point would have been to hang up the phone so quickly I wouldn't be able to hear anything she said.  This was what I was working out in my mind at 4:00 this morning, but something in me said she is counting on you like you are counting on her get your lazy booty out of bed and get to the gym.  Little did I know that she was having close to this same thought this morning.  Workout partners really do help whether they are at the gym with you or emailing you, they are simply the best!  My self diagnosed sinus infection isn't as horrible as it was but there is a lot of pressure in my head.  Yesterday's waterfall workout and the 2 billion burpees that we did let me know that it is still hanging around.  Every time I bent over, it felt like my eyeballs were going to explode.

I bought a book and I am loving it!  It is the Women's Health Big Book of 15 Minute Workouts.  It has some really good variations of workouts in it that are super easy to do with nothing more than a Pilates ball, a couple of weights and good ol' you.  They are quick and many could be done to a Tabata timer to really keep things moving and changed up.  In the beginning of the book, there are a few interesting things that it talks about.  My favorite and one I need to watch more is "We now spend a whopping 7 hours a month on Facebook, according to Nielsen."  "Seven hours a month works out to 105 minutes each week."  That is a lot of wasted time that could be put to better use.  There was one other thing in the first 3 pages (there was actually a LOT more) that I sort of already knew but it just hit me.  It stated that "A pound of muscle takes up 20 percent less space than a pound of fat."  That is HUGE!  How it was said really made me stop and think about how much a couple pounds of fat loss could remove from my body.  We always have a goal weight but I think a body fat % goal would be the better goal to have.  I know it would be for me because it never seems to matter what I do it is hard to lose pounds after a certain number on the scale.   I found this scale on the internet and thought I would share it with you.  Where do you fall?

Flashback.  This race is a 10K race that will be coming up in June and I hope to have an updated picture that I can see a noticeable change for the healthy in.  I am also hoping that I am able to improve my time from last year.

Sick Saturday and Sunday

This weekend didn't go so well.  I was fighting something off most of Saturday and all of Sunday.  My husband tells me that every time I go all guns blazing into a workout regimen I end up sick within a week or two.  Well I think he is full of beans even if I did end up sick!  Speaking of beans…I often find myself extremely hungry after workouts, and lacking in the energy department during workouts.  I tried eating some dinner before going to Zumba one evening to see if it would help me focus better and it did.  I have been experimenting with different things to try and find things that work for me and I stumbled on this.

After every half marathon, there is always chocolate milk at the finish line.  I used to find this disgusting, but then I tried it one time.  It was really good after a race.  So, I became a milk after running distance addict.  I usually eat the banana that they hand out or the oranges.  I also was given a "KIND" bar one night after Zumba and fell in love with them.  So what are your favorites after you exercise.  Share them and maybe the recipe so we can all benefit!

My overall diet usually consists of eating what I want just in smaller portions.  If you know me very well you know I am completely addicted to this…  ANYBODY?

I told you dieting isn't my thing, but I will try to out exercise my bad habits until I decide to change my eating style.  I almost always have at least one can if not two of this sugary sweet goodness every day.  I even carry one in my car to consume after long races, and have been known to ask my sister to find me along the course during a half and bring me one!  It took her a few more miles than my body was wanting to go without it but she did eventually catch me on the course.  Don't believe me?  My gym partner will totally vouch for me on this one!  I will say I did try a new recipe tonight to take to my BUNCO group.  I made a pasta salad (yep it was the not so good for you pasta kind).  I replaced the mayo with plain greek yogurt added some pepper and Mrs. Dash for flavoring added some avocado and BAM healthier pasta creation by Leslie.
